HONOLULU, HI – The victim of a fatal pedestrian accident in Honolulu last week has now been identified, according to Hawaii News Now.
The Honolulu medical examiner said the person killed was 72-year-old Linda Young, who was homeless.
The incident happened Dec. 3 on Pali Highway near Vineyard Boulevard at about 2:25 p.m. Investigators learned that Young was crossing in a marked crosswalk against a ‘Do Not Walk’ signal. She was then struck by a vehicle headed north on Pali Highway.
The victim died after being transported to an area hospital. The driver of the vehicle involved, age 37, was not injured and stayed at the scene of the crash.
Police are continuing to investigate the collision, and said they do not believe that speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
