Authorities identify man killed in car crash at Waipio store lot

WAIPIO, HI – Authorities have identified the man killed in a car accident at a store in Waipio last week.

According to a report by KITV, the victim was 71-year-old Gilbert Cummins of Waipahu.  Police said Cummins was driving Tuesday night in the alleyway of a Costco store lot in the 94-1200 block of Ka Uka Boulevard when the crash occurred at around 8 p.m.

Cummins collided with a shipping container that was in the parking lot and was pronounced dead at the scene by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.  He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the incident. No one else was injured.
