KANEOHE, HI – Authorities have identified the victim of a collision on Kamehameha Highway in Kaneohe last month, reports Hawaii News Now.
The person killed was 32-year-old Tasha Madela of Honolulu, according to the medical examiner.
The incident took place July 18 on Kamehameha Highway north between the Pali Highway and the H3 Freeway.
Investigators said Madela was walking partially on the roadway at about 2:05 a.m. when she was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by a 75-year-old man. As she was laying in the road, the woman was hit by a second vehicle, possibly a commercial dump truck, which left the scene.
The first driver stopped and tried to help Madela while Honolulu police, firefighters and EMS crews responded to the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are continuing to investigate the fatal collision.
