HONOLULU, HI – Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in the Salt Lake neighborhood of Honolulu.
According to a release from the Honolulu Police Department, a motorcyclist was killed in the April 9 crash, which occurred on the H-1 Freeway eastbound near the North Nimitz Highway off-ramp.
An initial investigation determined that a 27-year-old man was riding a motorcycle eastbound at a high rate of speed at about 9:45 p.m. when he lost control of the bike and slid onto the roadway.
The rider was separated from the motorcycle, which continued on before colliding with an eastbound vehicle on the freeway.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. The driver of the vehicle, a 54-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.
