Accident involving e-bike in Kailua sends 13-year-old boy to hospital

KAILUA, HI – Honolulu paramedics rushed to the aid of a boy who was injured in an accident while riding on his e-bicycle on Tuesday afternoon.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the crash happened near the 600 block of Kailua Road in Kailua at about 3:50 p.m.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said a 13-year-old boy lost control of his e-bike and crashed.  He suffered head and back injuries, and was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in serious condition.

The boy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, EMS said.
