AHUIMANU, HI – Honolulu paramedics took three people to the hospital Monday following a collision on Kahekili Highway, KITV reports.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said a driver went left of center on the highway at about 5 p.m. and slammed into a car that had pulled over on the side of the road. The car that was hit moved forward as a result of the impact and struck pedestrians who were standing in front of it.
A 14-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy were hospitalized in serious condition while a 37-year-old woman was also transported. A woman in her late 20s declined treatment.
It was not yet clear whether the injured victims were in a car or were among the pedestrians. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
