EWA BEACH, HI – A second person has died of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle collision in Ewa Beach earlier this month, KITV reports.
The fatal crash occurred July 12 on the southbound lanes of Fort Weaver Road before Renton Road.
Police said a driver was heading north at a high rate of speed at about 5:42 a.m. and collided with another vehicle, causing the first vehicle to go airborne and then roll over. The driver of that vehicle, identified as 37-year-old William Kellum, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. His two passengers, an 18-year-old man and a juvenile boy, were hospitalized with serious injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 72-year-old man, was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries and was pronounced dead on Friday, July 25.
Police are continuing to investigate the wreck. They believe that speed was a contributing factor, but have yet to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
