MAKAHA, HI – Authorities have released the identities of two people killed in an accident in Makaha last week, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office said the victims were 36-year-old Anthony S. Aviata and 60-year-old Antone J. Silva, both residents of Waianae.
The crash happened April 9 on Farrington Highway at about 6 p.m. According to Honolulu police, Aviata was riding a motorcycle northbound at a high rate of speed and collided with a vehicle driven by Silva, who was making a U-turn near a park.
Aviata was thrown onto the pavement while Silva’s car flipped onto its side. Both men were pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. Police said Aviata was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. Silva was not wearing a seatbelt.
