HONOLULU, HI – Two pedestrians were critically injured when they were hit by a vehicle near Kualoa Park on Saturday afternoon, reports KHON.

According to Honolulu police, a 40-year-old man was driving north on Kamahameha Highway at about 4:30 p.m. when one of his two juvenile passengers experienced a medical emergency.

When the man started to assist the passenger, his vehicle drifted into the right shoulder and struck the two pedestrians, a 20-year-old man and a 12-year-old girl.  The vehicle then hit a parked car, which struck another woman.

The man and the girl who were initially struck were both critically injured.   Four other people involved in the crash, including the woman who was hit, were evaluated by EMS at the scene but declined further treatment.
