EWA BEACH, HI – Paramedics rushed a boy to the hospital last week after an accident that occurred while he was riding his electric bike in Honolulu.
According to KITV, the 12-year-old was riding Thursday afternoon near Kapolei Parkway and Keoneula Boulevard in Ewa Beach.
Authorities said the boy was struck by a car heading eastbound near the intersection at about 2 p.m. He was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries.
The investigation found that the driver of the car, a 40-year-old woman, had the right of way at the time of the crash. The bike rider had been heading south on Kapolei Parkway in a marked crosswalk and disregarded a “Do Not Walk” signal, investigators said.
The driver was not injured and remained at the scene.
