Car Accidents: Man Dies After Hit-and-Run

The state of Hawaii has seen a significant growth in population in recent years. Due to this growth, there are more vehicles sharing roadways today than ever before. Also, motorists these days are forced to deal with greater numbers of distracted, impaired or reckless drivers. Coincidentally, car accidents are increasing across the state.

Recently in Honolulu, a man lost his life after a hit-and-run accident. The accident occurred during the morning hours on the H1 freeway. According to reports, a minor fender-bender occurred between an allegedly stolen pickup truck and a sedan. Officials believe that, after the accident, the driver of the pickup truck tried to flee the scene, and a man got out of the sedan and jumped into the bed of the pickup truck.

Reports say that the driver of the pickup truck headed westbound, lost control and hit a concrete barrier. The man that was in the bed of the pickup truck was thrown out and was hit by another vehicle, according to authorities. Tragically, the man died on the scene. A female passenger of the pickup truck was also injured, and the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene on foot. Honolulu police say they are still searching for the driver of the pickup truck.

When the driver of the pickup truck is located, he could be facing some very serious charges as well as a wrongful death lawsuit from the surviving families members of the man who died and a personal injury lawsuit from the injured women. Likewise, those in Hawaii who have suffered injuries or the loss of a loved one due to negligence in car accidents may be able to take legal action. A successful lawsuit could result in deserved financial relief to help get through this difficult experience.
