HONOLULU, HI – The Honolulu Police Department was called to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Kapiolani Boulevard in Honolulu.
The department’s Traffic Division reported that the accident occurred May 16 near the intersection of Keeaumoku Street at about 9:05 p.m. The pedestrian, a 36-year-old man, was walking in the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle heading westbound on Kapiolani Boulevard.
The pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.
The driver of the vehicle, a 39-year-old man, and his 54-year-old male passenger were not injured and stayed at the scene.
Investigators said neither drugs nor alcohol were contributing factors in the crash, but had yet to determine whether speed was involved.
