HONOLULU, HI – Honolulu police and emergency crews were called to a fatal pedestrian accident on Thursday morning, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported.
The incident took place on Palahia Street in Makakilo at about 10:17 a.m. The Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division stated that a woman, estimated to be in her 60s, was walking outside of a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle.
The critically injured woman was treated at the scene by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, but was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital.
The driver of the vehicle, a 71-year-old woman, stayed at the scene. Investigators do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
