EWA BEACH, HI – Honolulu police are investigating a fatal collision involving an electric motorcycle that occurred in Ewa Beach early Monday morning.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports police and paramedics were dispatched to Kuhina Street after the incident took place at about 2:36 a.m. According to police, a westbound motorcyclist lost control of his bike while traveling at a high rate of speed and collided with a parked, unattended vehicle on the eastbound sidewalk.
The rider, a 23-year-old man, was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene. The victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, police said.
The initial investigation indicates that speed was a contributing factor in the crash, Oahu’s 57th traffic fatality of the year compared to 28 at this time in 2024.
