HONOLULU, HI – A man was critically injured when two motorcycles collided in the Makaha area last week, the Honolulu Police Department reported.
The accident took place Aug. 22 on Farrington Highway west of Makua Valley Road. According to the police department’s Traffic Division, a 34-year-old man was riding a motorcycle westbound at about 5 p.m. when he was struck from behind by another motorcycle.
The 34-year-old, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was ejected from the bike onto the roadway. He was taken to an area hospital and was listed in critical condition.
The rider of the second motorcycle, a 32-year-old man, refused treatment at the scene.
At this time, police do not believe that speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the collision, but the investigation is continuing.
