5-vehicle crash shuts down stretch of H-1 Freeway near Honolulu airport

HONOLULU, HI- A fiery accident disrupted traffic near the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu on Friday morning.

According to Hawaii News Now, five vehicles were involved in the wreck in the eastbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway at about 7 a.m., with two of the vehicles catching fire.

Honolulu police, firefighters and emergency medical crews all responded to the scene. There was no immediate word regarding any injuries, or on what led to the collision.

A portion of the H-1 Freeway was closed in the area while the crash was being cleared. Drivers were detoured to the Nimitz Highway exit.
