HONOLULU, HI – A man was critically injured when his motorcycle crashed into another vehicle in the Waianae area on Tuesday morning.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, the incident happened on Waianae Valley Road at about 7:27 a.m. Traffic Division investigators learned that a motorist was headed north when he tried to make a left turn into a private driveway. The vehicle was broadsided by a motorcycle headed south.
The motorcyclist, a 36-year-old man, was transported to an area hospital and was listed in critical condition. The rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The motorist, a 31-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.
Police believe speed was a contributing factor in the accident, but said drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been involved.
