PEARL CITY, HI – A man died after being struck by a vehicle on Kamehameha Highway in the Pearl City area early Monday morning, the Honolulu Police Department said.
Investigators determined that the pedestrian was walking through the eastbound traffic lanes of the highway outside of a marked crosswalk at about 3:30 a.m. when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.
The driver of the vehicle, a 61-year-old man, continued on leaving the scene and reported the crash a short time later.
