2 teenagers on e-bike crash into Honolulu police department cruiser

HONOLULU, HI – An investigation is underway following a collision in central Oahu Thursday night that left two teenagers injured.

According to Hawaii News Now, the incident happened at the intersection of Waipio Uka Street and Ka Uka Boulevard in the Waipio area.

Authorities said the two teenagers were riding an e-bike west on Waipio Uka Street at about 9:30 p.m. and crashed into a Honolulu Police Department cruiser going north on Ka Uka Boulevard. The teens, who were not wearing helmets, were thrown onto the roadway. The two, ages 14 and 17, were taken to an area hospital and listed in serious condition.

The Honolulu police officer in the cruiser was not injured.

Investigators do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident.
