KANEOHE, HI – Honolulu police are investigating a fatal rollover crash that occurred last week on the Kaneohe-bound H3 Freeway.
According to a KITV report, the driver of a Toyota 4Runner SUV crashed into a guardrail near Likelike Highway on Wednesday night at about 9:15 p.m. The vehicle went off the roadway, onto the shoulder, and up a grass embankment before rolling over several times.
The driver, 39-year-old Kevin Kauweloa, was thrown from the SUV and killed. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time, police said. Family members said Kauweloa worked at Queen’s Medical Center.
Police believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
