PAHOA, HI – Hawai‘i Island Police released an update on a pedestrian accident in Pahoa last week, saying that the victim had died of her injuries.
The incident occurred Aug. 5 at about 5:43 a.m. on Ainaloa Boulevard in the general area of Palm Way. Responding officers learned that a westbound 2022 Hyundai pickup truck struck a female pedestrian who was reported to be crossing the road and was not in a marked crosswalk.
The pedestrian, identified as 49-year-old Andrea-Gabrielle Miller of Pahoa, was taken to the Hilo Benioff Medical Center in critical condition. She was pronounced dead on Thursday morning.
The Hyundai driver, a 36-year-old Pahoa man, was not injured in the incident. Police do not believe that speed or impairment were contributing factors.
