KAUAI, HI – A collision in Kauai last week claimed the life of a motorcyclist, according to a report by Hawaii News Now.
The crash occurred Thursday evening in the area of Kaumualii Highway and Tartar Drive at about 6:30 p.m. According to Kauai police, the driver of a 2021 Dodge SUV was trying to turn left from Kaumualii Highway onto Tartar Drive and was struck by a motorcycle heading east on the highway.
The motorcycle rider was killed and has been identified as 44-year-old Reef Oana of Hanamaulu. There were three people in the Dodge, one of whom was injured and was treated at the scene.
The investigation by Kauai police has determined that speed was likely a contributing factor in the accident.
