WAIPAHU, HI – Rescue crews responded to the scene of a car crash on the H-1 Freeway in the Waipahu area early Monday morning.
A report by KHON states that the accident occurred on the eastbound freeway near the Farrington Highway overpass shortly after midnight. According to Honolulu police, a man was driving at high speed when his vehicle went off the roadway.
The vehicle went up a grass embankment, went airborne, and came to rest after going down another embankment.
The driver, a 22-year-old man, was hospitalized in critical condition. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
