HONOLULU, HI – Police are trying to track down the driver who struck and injured a moped rider in Honolulu, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports.
The incident happened May 31 on Farrington Highway in Waipahu. According to investigators, a man was riding a moped westbound in the right lane at about 10:48 p.m. when he was hit from behind by a vehicle and ejected.
The 51-year-old moped rider, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was transported to an area hospital and listed in serious condition. The driver of the vehicle involved kept on going west without stopping to help or give any information, police said.
It was not immediately clear whether speed, drugs or alcohol had anything to do with the incident.
