HONOLULU, HI – One person was killed and two others injured in an accident involving a motorcycle in Aiea on Friday night, authorities said.
According to a KHON report, the incident took place in the area of the Moanalua Freeway off-ramp and Kaimakani Street.
The Honolulu Police Department said an 88-year-old man was walking outside of a marked crosswalk on the Moanalua Freeway shortly after 8 p.m. The pedestrian entered the path of a westbound motorcycle that was exiting at the off-ramp for Moanalua Road.
The man was hit by the motorcycle and died at the scene. The 21-year-old motorcyclist and a 22-year-old female passenger were taken to an area hospital where both were listed in serious condition.
The investigation has indicated that speed, drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been contributing factors in the crash.
