KAUA‘I, HI – A driver was injured when her vehicle collided with a school bus in Kaua’i last week, police said.
According to a report by Kaua’i Now, the incident took place Friday afternoon on Kaumuali‘i Highway in Hanapēpē.
Accident investigators determined that the driver of a Toyota Tacoma was going west on the highway at about 2:40 p.m. when she crossed over the center line and crashed into a Yamaguchi school bus head-on.
The Tacoma driver, a 69-year-old Kekaha woman, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. She was treated by paramedics and released at the scene. No injuries were reported for the school bus driver and one juvenile who was riding on the bus.
Police are continuing to investigate the crash, which shut down a portion of the highway while the vehicles were being cleared.
