Police searching for driver who struck and killed pedestrian in Haleiwa

HALEIWA, HI – Honolulu police are searching for the driver responsible for the death of a pedestrian in Haleiwa last month, KITV reports.

The incident took place March 21 on the Joseph P. Leong Highway near Emerson Road at about 3:20 a.m.  The victim, identified as Tiffany Gonzales, was walking on the right shoulder of the southbound lane when she was struck by a vehicle heading south and killed.

The driver left the scene without stopping to help.  Police have now released a description of the vehicle they are looking for, saying it was a 1998 to 1999 Nissan Frontier pickup truck. The color and the license plate are still not known.

Anyone with further information regarding the hit-and-run was asked to contact the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section.
