Driver critically injured after crashing into pillar on Kamehameha Highway

PEARL CITY, HI – A man was critically injured when his vehicle crashed in Pearl City late Tuesday night, reports Hawaii News Now.

The accident happened along Kamehameha Highway near Acacia Road at about 11:30 pm.  Police determined that a driver was weaving through the highway’s lanes in both directions before crashing into a concrete pillar in the center median.

The driver, a 36-year-old man, was transported to an area hospital and was listed in critical condition.

Honolulu police are investigating the wreck, and have yet to determine whether drugs, alcohol or speed were contributing factors.
