HONOLULU, HI – Honolulu police said an accident involving a moped earlier this month has turned out to be fatal, according to Hawaii News Now.
A 49-year-old man has died of his injuries after his moped was struck on Feb. 8, the Medical Examiner’s Office said. The man was riding on South Beretania Street near Keeaumoku Street shortly after 2 p.m. when he was struck by a westbound vehicle.
The victim, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was thrown onto the roadway and transported to a hospital. His name has not yet been released.
Investigators said it does not appear that speed was a contributing factor in the incident, but it has not yet been determined whether impairment was involved.
