HONOLULU, HI – A pedestrian accident in Honolulu early Friday morning sent an elderly woman to the hospital, reports KITV.
The woman, said to be in her 80s, was hit by a vehicle in the vicinity of N. Kuakini Street and Bachelot Street in the Nuuanu-Punchbowl neighborhood. Honolulu police said a 57-year-old driver went in reverse out of Bachelot Street to drop off a garbage container side of the road at about 5:30 a.m. He then noticed the victim lying in the roadway in front of his car.
The woman was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Investigators believe she was outside of a marked crosswalk when she was struck. At this point, it does not appear that speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident.
