WAIPAHU, HI – Paramedics were dispatched to the scene of a motorcycle collision Wednesday night in Waipahu, KITV reports.
A man was riding a motorcycle north on Fort Weaver Road near the intersection with Farrington Highway when the incident occurred sometime before 10:45 p.m.
EMS officials said the man was traveling at high speed when he lost control on the Waipahu off-ramp. The 41-year-old motorcyclist collided with a metal street lamp post and was ejected from the bike.
He was pronounced dead after being rushed to an area hospital. The victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Investigators believe speed was a contributing factor in the accident but have yet determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
