KAKAAKO, HI – Honolulu police said a man was killed when his motorcycle was involved in an accident on Thursday afternoon.
According to Hawaii News Now, the incident occurred on Kapiolani Boulevard near Ward Avenue in the Kakaako area.
Investigators determined that the motorcycle rider was going east at a high rate of speed at about 4:30 p.m. and hit a car that was making a left turn from the westbound lanes. The motorcycle then entered the westbound lanes and crashed into another vehicle head-on.
The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the bike and was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. He was 25 years old. There was no word on whether anyone else was injured in the crash.
Speed appeared to have been a contributing factor in the incident, according to investigators.
