HONOLULU, HI- Police and utility crews were at the scene of a car crash that caused a power outage in the Napili area of Maui on Wednesday night.

Hawaii News Now reports that a car struck a utility pole on Lower Honoapiilani Road on the Kapalua side of Napilihau at about 7:45 p.m.  The incident toppled the pole and power lines, blocking lanes and knocking out power to nearly 1,100 customers in the area.  No major injuries were reported.

Maui Hawaiian Electric crews were dispatched to make repairs, and by early Thursday morning power had been restored to about 200 customers.
