HONOLULU, HI – Five people were hospitalized after their vehicle overturned and crashed on the H-1 Freeway in west Oʻahu Sunday morning.
A report by KHON states that the accident happened on the westbound lanes of the freeway prior to the Makakilo offramp in west Oʻahu.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services crews responding to the scene at about 11 a.m. found that the driver of a sport utility vehicle had lost control and the SUV rolled over multiple times on the highway.
Two passengers in the SUV, a 53-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man, were taken to an area hospital in serious condition. Three other passengers, girls ages 16, 15 and 11, were hospitalized in stable condition.
The westbound lanes of the freeway were closed while emergency crews were clearing the scene and helping the injured. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes.
