SOUTH KONA, HI – A woman and her two children were taken to the hospital after their car crashed in South Kona early Wednesday morning, police said.
According to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, the single-vehicle accident happened on Highway 11 at about 3:23 a.m. A police investigation found that a 32-year-old Captain Cook woman was driving a 2003 Honda CR-V when the vehicle went off the roadway and down an embankment before colliding with a tree.
The woman’s 3-year-old son was critically injured in the wreck and transported to Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children. The woman and her 1-year-old son were in stable condition in Kona Community Hospital and were later released.
Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
