MAKAHA, HI – Authorities have released the identities of two people killed in an accident in Makaha last week, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office said the victims were 36-year-old Anthony S. Aviata and 60-year-old Antone J. Silva, both residents of Waianae.

The crash happened April 9 on Farrington Highway at about 6 p.m.  According to Honolulu police, Aviata was riding a motorcycle northbound at a high rate of speed and collided with a vehicle driven by Silva, who was making a U-turn near a park.

Aviata was thrown onto the pavement while Silva’s car flipped onto its side.  Both men were pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.  Police said Aviata was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.  Silva was not wearing a seatbelt.
