News: Man killed when pickup truck runs off roadway in North Kona

NORTH KONA, HI – Police said a man was killed when his pickup truck crashed in North Kona on Tuesday afternoon, according to Big Island Now.

The victim was identified as 62-year-old Curtis Arthur Lea of Kailua-Kona.  Investigators said he was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck on Kaiminani Drive near Kalia Place when the incident happened at about 2:36 p.m.

Lea was headed west when the pickup went off the right shoulder of the roadway, hit a wooden fence and overturned.

Lea was pronounced dead after being taken to the Kona Community Hospital.  Police investigating the wreck believe that impairment was a contributing factor.
