KANEOHE, HI – A motorcycle rider was critically injured in a collision in the Kaneohe area on Sunday afternoon, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
Police and paramedics responded to the scene on Pali Highway after the incident occurred at about 12:10 p.m. Investigators with the Traffic Division learned that a 24-year-old man was riding a motorcycle westbound at a high rate of speed, when he lost control and struck a concrete guardrail.
The motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and transported via EMS to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Police believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash, but have yet to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
