HILO, HI – A crash on Mahiai Street in Hilo on Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a 20-year-old driver, according to KITV.

Investigators determined that the man was driving a 2017 Jeep Renegade multi-purpose vehicle eastbound when the incident occurred at about 2:07 p.m. near Ahuna Road. The vehicle went off the right shoulder of the roadway, where it collided with a rock pile and overturned.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was identified as Logan Quintal of Hilo.  No one else was in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved.

Police do not believe that speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the fatal wreck.
