HONOLULU, HI – A driver is facing charges in connection with a deadly crash in Honolulu early Saturday morning.
A report by KITV states that police responded to the scene in the area of Leokane Street and Pupuole Street in Waipahu shortly after 3:44 a.m.
Investigators determined that 20-year-old Romeo Failauga was driving north on Leokane Street at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a wooden utility pole.
His passenger, a 20-year-old man, was pronounced dead after being rushed to an area hospital. The victim was not wearing a seatbelt.
Failuga, who sustained minor injuries, was subsequently arrested on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant and first-degree negligent homicide.
