HONOLULU, HI – Police in Honolulu said a pedestrian was critically injured in an accident on South Beretania Street early Friday morning.

A release from the Honolulu Police Department said a 68-year-old man was crossing the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk shortly before 4:30 a.m.  He was struck by a vehicle heading westbound on South Beretania Street near Victoria Street.

The pedestrian was transported by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle, an 85-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.
