Kamehameha Highway closed in both directions after vehicle crashes into pole

CENTRAL OAHU, HI – A traffic accident shut down a stretch of Kamehameha Highway in Central Oahu on Tuesday afternoon.

According to an alert from KITV Traffic shortly before 1 p.m., a collision knocked down a telephone pole which ended up across both sides of the highway.

Kamehameha Highway was closed in both directions between Lanikuhana Avenue and Hale Halawai.

A Hawaiian Telcom crew was dispatched to the scene to repair the damage.  The vehicle involved in the collision was towed from the scene.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries.
