HONOLULU, HI – Police responded to a hit-and-run collision in Honolulu’s Punchbowl area on Thursday night, Feb. 19.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, two vehicles were involved in the crash on the H1 Freeway near the Queen Emma Street overpass at about 10:20 p.m.
It was reported to the police department’s Traffic Division that a 55-year-old man was driving westbound when he sideswiped a vehicle driven by a 47-year-old woman. The first driver kept traveling westbound without stopping to help or provide information. The man was located after he collided into the center median concrete barrier near the Pali Highway on ramp.
The man was taken to an area hospital in serious condition. The 47-year-old woman was not injured and stayed at the scene.
Investigators have not yet determined whether speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
