Boy, 14, hit by pickup truck while riding e-bike in Waialua

HONOLULU, HI – Paramedics in Honolulu rushed a young boy to the hospital after he was struck and injured while riding an e-bicycle, reports the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene Sunday night at the 68-100 block of Au Street in Waialua.  Officials said a 14-year-old boy was riding his e-bike at that location shortly before 7:15 p.m. when he was hit by a pickup truck.

The boy was pinned under the truck and was listed in a serious condition after being hospitalized.  He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to EMS.  The pickup driver was not treated at the scene.
