MILILANI, HI – One person was killed and another injured in a single-vehicle crash in the Mililani area on Tuesday morning, police said.
According to a release from the Honolulu Police Department, the incident occurred on Meheula Parkway near Keaolani Street at about 8:35 a.m.
The police department’s Traffic Division learned that a driver was heading south on Meheula Parkway when he crossed over a raised center median into the northbound lanes and traveled onto the sidewalk, where the vehicle struck a tree.
Two people in the vehicle were transported by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital. The passenger, a 76-year-old woman, was pronounced dead of her injuries. The driver, a 77-year-old man, was in serious condition.
Investigators have yet to determine whether speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the fatal wreck.
