A vacation is a time of enjoyment, rest and relaxation. Hawaii is a great place to vacation, and in fact, it is one one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Visitors from around the globe flock to this great state to enjoy the warm weather, beautiful beaches and first-class entertainment. No person expects to be involved in a car accident while enjoying themselves on vacation. Unfortunately, car accidents can happen any time and turn a vacation into a tragedy.
A recent crash in Honolulu took the life of a visitor. The accident happened during the nighttime hours at a busy intersection. According to reports, a vehicle entered the intersection and was hit on the passenger side by a local tour bus.
Reports said the vehicle was dragged for several feet by the bus before the bus completely stopped. The driver and passenger in the car were severely injured and airlifted to a local hospital. Tragically, the passenger died at the hospital, authorities said. Reportedly, the woman and the driver of the vehicle were both visiting from South Korea.
Suffering an accident while on a trip can undoubtedly ruin the experience. Unfortunately, as populations continue to rise in Hawaii, accidents become almost inevitable. Defensive driving and remaining focused behind the wheel may help to decrease the likelihood of a car accident occurring, but accidents can still happen no matter how cautious a driver may be. Those who have suffered injuries or the loss of loved ones in car accidents could obtain much-needed compensation by pursuing claims for damages through the state’s civil justice system.
